A few weeks ago, an editor from Refinery29 reached out to ask if I would style my siblings for a feature on Wild Belle that ran today in their Musical Muse series. Natalie and Elliot both have a distinct eye for fashion and have acquired some amazing pieces over the years, so they don't need too much help in the styling department. But, I was more than happy to oblige and took this as a fun opportunity to enlist some of my favorite local designers and boutiques in order to find some special pieces to pair with their own well-worn and well-loved items.

nyfw diary on glossed & found

Earlier this month, I traveled to New York to visit with friends and family, have a few meetings, and participate in some of the spectacle that is NYFW. While there, I snapped a bunch of photos and kept a log for Glossed & Found. There have been a handful of recent store openings in our neck of the woods and we couldn't be more excited about all of our great new neighbors on Damen. From perfectly worn leather goods at Vintage Smith to bold accessories at The Edit to hand silk-screen tees at VividBraille, all three spots have items and spaces that are very much worth checking out. 'Tis the season and our annual holiday party is almost here! Please join us on Saturday, December 10th for a festive afternoon of shopping, music, and holiday cheer. Whether you're shopping for gifts or treating yourself, we will have jewelry, accessories, and party-worthy dresses galore. In honor of Roslyn's 5 year anniversary, Natalie Bergman and Erik Hall will be in-store performing some celebratory tunes (including a carol or two). We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Mineralogy is a recently-launched jewelry brand designed by Theresa Cowan, a very sweet and very talented graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She uses rough cut stones and vintage brass findings to create a collection that is just the right mix of organic and elegant. We started carrying the line at Roslyn a few months back and I've been admiring the pieces and using them to accessorize my dresses around the shop ever since. I've decided it is time to stop ogling and actually get something for myself. But, I still can't figure out exactly which one I want to take home. Help!

In the window is our Fields Dress in grey cotton chambray shown with a Mineralogy necklace, our Multi-Wrap in pyrite silk dupioni, a face print party dress by Luxury Jones, and an ivory backless dress by Suite. Some covetable vintage items just arrived and we recently marked down a bunch of spring merchandise, so there are some amazing finds at great prices in the shop right now. But, the racks are quickly dwindling, so stop by soon if you want in on it. In other store news, the Roslyn blog just got a makeover and is looking very very pretty.

a bridal shower

My friend Rosie is getting married later this month and a few weeks ago her bridal party and I hosted a shower for her and her fiancé James at my house in Bucktown. For the decor, we kept things simple with kraft paper details and white, lavender, and green toned flowers in vintage milk bottles, mason jars, and bud vases. Abra Berens, a chef known for her farm-to-table approach to cooking, came in from her farm in Northern Michigan to cater the celebration. She prepared the most delicious selection of gourmet finger foods. Figs with crème fraiche and candied walnuts, home roast beef with horseradish cream and pickled beets on sourdough, and lavender lemonade were just a few of our many favorites from her menu. Kelcey from Fox & Obel was in charge of desserts and made apple tarts, a variety of chocolate and espresso cake bites, and more. Yum! Sticking with the lavender theme from the invitations (which we designed and printed at home on Luxe Cream paper from Paper Source), we gave homemade lavender salt scrub in small glass jars as favors for the guests. A big thank you to my co-hosts, to Abra and Kelcey for their culinary expertise, to Caleb for his beautiful documentation of the afternoon, and to all the lovely ladies who made it out for the occasion.

P.S. In case anybody is curious, Rosie is wearing a custom, one-of-a-kind EB piece that she commissioned for the shower. It is a fitted organic cotton pencil skirt with hand sewn layers of bias-cut silk organza. I am wearing the Lewis Dress made out of a woven cotton that I bought at a fabric store in Montana a couple summers ago.
