Bold rules in this Glossed & Found spring fashion editorial. I had a blast working with Graham to create the illustrations, backgrounds, and layouts for these colorful photos. Click here to see the entire story.

seeing spots

On a recent trip to the thrift store, I unintentionally loaded up my cart with multiple items covered in polka dots. All the dotted prints I've been seeing must have snuck their way onto my subliminal wish list because I ended up taking home a blouse and two dresses covered in spots. All fun, colorful, and just in time for some updates to my summer wardrobe.

trending

{ hand-knotted rope jewelry for spring }

I usually try and shy away from major trends when I am designing pieces for the collection. But, every once in a while I'm tempted to find a fun way to incorporate the season's colors and materials into the line. One quick and satisfying way for me to experiment with that is by making accessories. This season, we're seeing loads of neon and chunky statement jewelry made with all sorts of rope and nylon cord. I spent some time a few weeks back playing around with materials and putting my own touches on those trends. Here are the results. These first two have been claimed, but I'm kind of excited about them, so think I'll make a handful more and bring them to the store in the coming weeks.

jump into spring with glossed & found

Graham Kostic and Caleb Condit, two of my favorite Chicago creatives (and regulars on this blog), just collaborated with an
über talented team on a really fun and vibrant spring beauty and fashion editorial for Glossed & Found. This behind the scenes video gets me excited for spring's bright pops and prints. It also inspires me to gather some friends to work on a group project, whatever it might be. Don't they all look like they're having such a blast?

long + white

{one: via Le Fashion |  two and three: long pale skirts worn informally in Paris and New York via The Sartorialist | four: EB SS11 Convertible Maxi Skirt in hemp silk photographed by Caleb Condit }

Long and white was such a great go-to look this summer. I plan to take layering cues from these photos and ignore the no white after Labor Day rule by wearing our SS11 hemp silk skirt long into fall.

pennant banners

A while back, I made my friend Graham some fabric pennants and gave them to him as a going-away/housewarming gift before he moved to Boston. Yesterday, he sent a photo of the banner hanging in his apartment as an Easter decoration. I love how the fabric adds a touch of playful, handmade charm to his rustic yet modern kitchen. Our original pennants were designed for Kate, one of our all-time favorite brides, as a way to incorporate the colorful Liberty of London prints we used for the groomsmen's custom neckties into another part of her wedding. Over the past couple years, bunting in all forms has been popping up in magazines and on blogs as a trend in wedding and home decor. I think it is an especially attractive and resourceful idea for a wedding because it can easily be saved and repurposed for another occasion.
