Christian Cota recently designed a capsule collection for Diet Pepsi and as part of the Style Studio initiative, we were invited to his Fall Winter 2012 collection presentation at The Standard Hotel. It was a delight to meet the designer and a true privilege to attend his show. An unexpected juxtaposition of prints, textures, and materials proved that Cota is a master when it comes to fabric. Heavy, woven jacquards in warm and vibrant tones were layered with delicate silks, leathers, furs, and custom knits. Many of the garments were accented with rich textural details, hand-embroidered by artisans in his native Mexico. The collection evoked a sense of sophistication and adventure. It belongs on one of those confident and magnetic girls who is simultaneously lady-like, polished, and effortlessly comfortable and cool.
